Privacy Policy

Leadway Limited ("Leadway Driving School", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry through our website, we collect: your full name, mobile number, email address, pickup postcode, and the type of lesson you are interested in (if you select one). All of these fields except the lesson interest are required to submit the form. The form also includes a hidden field used to help detect automated spam submissions; it does not collect personal information about you.

The form includes a separate, optional marketing consent checkbox. If you tick it, we record that you have agreed to receive occasional emails about lessons, availability and offers. If you leave it unticked, your enquiry is still processed normally and you will not be added to any promotional email list. Marketing consent is not a condition of receiving our normal services.

If you become a pupil, we may also collect information relevant to providing your lessons, such as your driving experience, progress and lesson records.

Dash cameras

The tuition vehicle may be fitted with front and rear dash cameras that face outward towards the road and surrounding traffic. They are not intended to record the interior of the vehicle. Road-facing footage may capture images of you as a driver and of other road users and vehicles.

Dash-camera footage may be processed for legitimate purposes including:

Road and pupil safety.
Reviewing driving incidents.
Insurance or accident evidence.
Protecting the pupil and instructor.
Investigating complaints or disputes.
Driver training and educational review during tuition.

Footage may be disclosed where appropriate to insurers, legal representatives or the authorities, for example following an incident or where required by law. Footage may be overwritten, unavailable, corrupted or otherwise not retained, so we do not imply that footage will always be available. Audio recording is not routinely enabled; if audio recording is used, it will only be where there is an appropriate and justifiable reason, and pupils will be informed accordingly.

Promotional photographs and videos

Following a successful driving test or other achievement, we may invite you to have photographs or videos taken and ask for your consent to use them for promotional purposes, including our website, social media, digital marketing and other Leadway promotional materials. Participation is optional. We will obtain your consent before using identifiable photographs or videos of you for promotional purposes, and choosing not to consent will not affect your lessons or service. You can withdraw consent for future use at any time by contacting us; we will take reasonable steps to stop further use and, where appropriate and reasonably possible, remove content from channels under our control. Withdrawing consent does not retrospectively make earlier lawful use invalid.

How we use your information

To respond to your enquiry and arrange driving lessons.
To assess whether we can cover your area and preferred times.
To communicate with you about lessons and availability.
To maintain records of pupils and lessons.
For road safety, training review and incident handling using dash-camera footage.
To send promotional emails, but only to people who have ticked the marketing opt-in.

Marketing emails

We only send promotional emails to people who have ticked the optional marketing consent checkbox on our enquiry form. Marketing consent is separate from the information we need to handle your enquiry or provide driving lessons, and is never a condition of receiving our normal services. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by emailing info@leadwaydrivingschool.co.uk. Enquiries submitted without ticking the box are still processed for lesson follow-up and are not added to the promotional email list.

Legal basis

We process personal information only where we have an appropriate lawful basis. Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

Legitimate interests, for example responding to enquiries, operating the business, road safety, appropriate dash-camera use, incident handling and protecting pupils and the instructor, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Contract, where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract or to provide and administer driving lessons or other services you have booked.
Consent, for promotional email marketing where you have actively opted in, and for the promotional use of identifiable photographs or videos.
Legal obligation, where we need to process or retain information to comply with an applicable legal requirement.

Where processing relies on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with the CRM and website providers that help us operate our business, under appropriate data protection terms, and where required by law. Dash-camera footage may be disclosed where appropriate to insurers, legal representatives or the authorities, for example following an incident.

International data processing

Some of our technology and service providers may process information outside the UK. Where international transfers occur, appropriate safeguards will be used as required by applicable UK data-protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. In determining how long to retain information, we take into account factors including whether you remain an active customer, legal and regulatory requirements, accounting requirements, insurance requirements, potential or existing disputes, and the need to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Dash-camera footage is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is required, subject to legal, insurance, dispute or evidential requirements, and may be overwritten sooner. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis we rely on, you may have rights in relation to your personal information including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. In particular:

The right to access your personal information.
The right to have inaccurate personal information corrected.
The right to request erasure of your personal information in certain circumstances.
The right to request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
The right to object to certain processing.
The right to data portability where applicable.
The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.

These rights are not absolute and do not all apply in every circumstance. Where we rely on legitimate interests to process your personal information, you have the right to object to that processing in certain circumstances.
